This is the time of year when you begin hearing and seeing ads for political candidates on various radio and TV stations. We want you to know that these ads are generally not endorsements by the stations advertising the candidates.

Federal law generally requires stations to provide advertising time to candidates for federal office who wish to purchase the advertising time, whether the station agrees with the candidate's positions and statements or not. The station might agree with the content. The station might not. The point is that political ads on radio or TV stations are normally not an indication of that station's support of that candidate as stations may be required to run ads for candidates and statements from candidates that they might otherwise not endorse.
